I heard it was part of the new U.S. energy plan to get rid of nuke wastes by recycling them as deserts.

But that could be one of those lame rumors irresponsible people are always spreading.

Fortunately here in northern Mexico desserts are not really the thing. Candies are, but they are separate from the meal and the restaurant, unless some independent vendor comes in with a tray of homemade goodies after the meal.

In Chiapas, on the other hand, the popular 3-course comida corrida, a fixed price midday meal, always included a dessert. In almost every restaurant in Tuxtla Gutierrez it was a small dish of wiggly Jello cubes, either red or green in a salute to the Mexican flag. In a country which produces such excellent postres, it was an insult to the palate.
