My cyber kitchen is closed for the summer.

Adriana and I had hoped to get in a couple more cooking stories before the summer heat arrived. But the heat came early this year -- over 100° every day for the past two weeks. Ugh!

And my main computer is in the hospital, so I can't make uploads to my website.

And, Adriana is busy with politics. She's running for president of Ejido Lerdo. She has long been active in local and state politics, but this is her first run for office. The presidency of the edijo is the usual first step to other local or state offices.

We'll be back with more kitchen adventures in October. Until then, there are about 80 re-run stories at http://rollybrook.com/kitchen.htm

To paraphrase an old adage: When you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. This is the time of year we are always thankful for the wonderful variety of fresh fruits and vegetables Mexico so generously offers us that don't require cooking.

Good News! Adriana won the election. She is now the president of Ejido Lerdo. This is her first and important step in a planned career in elective politics.

I suspect that most expats don't understand the economic and political importance of ejidos in agriculture areas. (Expats tend to think of ejidos only as dangerous places to buy land.) In many community, such as Lerdo, the surrounding ejidos are an important political force.

Felicidades Adriana! This is great news, Rolly, and a big step for your friend. Keep us posted as she holds office, please.

Tell her she has a fan in Morelia who's rooting for her future as Presidente de la República Mexicana. Falta una mujer fuerte para arreglar bien las cosas.
