Great Restaurants in Mexico City

A quick jaunt (in no particular order) through several where I've eaten during the last year:

1. Restaurante Lincoln, near Bellas Artes: Old Mexican clubby atomosphere, where they haven't changed anything but the tablecloths and the prices since the restaurant opened in 1947. Recommendations: pollo en pipián verde, sopa de verduras.

2. Izote de Patricia Quintana in Colonia Polanco: Some folks like it, some don't. I did, when I was there a year ago. Recommendations: sopa tarasca, cochinita pibil.

3. El Tajín de Alicia Gironella d'Angelis in Coyoacán: another one that some like and some don't. Old style restaurant, new-style specialties. Recommendation: rollos de pechuga de pollo con hoja santa.

4. Casa Lamm: triple wow! Gorgeous setting in beautiful Colonia Roma, lovely room, delicious food. Recommendations: sopa de lima, espagueti con frutos del mar, trufa de chocolate (share it with a friend or two).

5. Azul y Oro de Ricardo Muñoz Zurita: simply fantastic. Worth the trip to the UNAM. Recommendations: raviolis de pato, espagueti negro (with salsa de huitlacoche).
