Last night I was invited to a party, and who was there? None other than the Mexican Kitchen moderator Esperanza, also known as the blogger of http://mexicocooks.typepad.com/

And she'd made the most incredible ribs, ribs unlike any I've ever had on either side of the border. But do you think she'd share the recipe? No way, she said. It was a secret. So now I have no recourse but to take her public and beg. Not only that, she'd also made refried beans, the kind which redefine everyone's concept of refried beans. There was no recourse but to go public with the request, hoping that the MexicoConnect community will pry the recipes out of her.

Jennifer, if you could describe the taste, sauce, cooking method or something specific about the ribs, we might have a chance at cracking the mystery.
(I have a recipe, at home—I'm NOB just now— for chipotle-peanut ribs. If you like, I'll post it when we get home.

Anónimo, I'm afraid you won't be able to duplicate either recipe with something you find in a cookbook. I learned both recipes from long-time friends, magnificent home cooks in Michoacán.
