Doņa Martha makes Arroz con Leche

Arroz con Leche, which I very much like, is so simple that I had not thought to do a picture story about it. But after about the 10th e-mail request, I decided to do it.

For lunch today Martha made tostadas and arroz con leche. One of tostada toppings she made is my new favorite -- chopped ham mixed with chopped deviled eggs.

While lunch was cooking, one of the grandkids brought in some chips and an unlabeled plastic squeeze bottle of a cheese-like yellow stuff. It has got to be the most tasteless dip/spread ever. I don't see why people would pay money for that stuff.

But I digress. As always comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the what looks to be a fantastic recipe for Arroz con Leche. Powdered milk, eh? Innnterrressting. My other half's mother makes this on a regular basis, though I never knew exactly which ingredients she used. I love this stuff! Would Doņa Martha ever use vanilla extract instead of the beans...?

Does she reuse the vanilla beans? I've seen them rinsed and saved for another time.

She splits the bean and scrapes the insides into the pot. So, no reuse.
