Corvina?

What did I eat for Comida today?

I was in the mood for fish so we went to "Mariscos Peter" which is maybe a mile west of Ajijic on the Carretera. I thought I'd be ordering a simple filet mojo de ajo or whatever, but I noticed they had the BBQ on and were grilling some large, whole, butterflied fish for some folks at a table nearby. It was a white fish that came off the grill kinda red, no doubt due to the marinade.

Even though I knew I had to order a whole fish for myself - an order for two - I told the waitress, "I'll have THAT." And yes, I ate the whole thing.

I asked (twice) what kind of fish it was and as close as I could tell, the owner said, "Corvina". My translation assistant, Sr. Google, says I ate "Croaker".

Anybody know what I ate? I couldn't tell if it was saltwater or freshwater. Did it come from Lake Chapala? Am I gonna die? Or croak....

You are likely to live. Corvina = sea bass, a salt water fish.

Thanks, Rolly. Sea Bass sounds much tastier than croaker!
