Cebada Especial Preparada?

What is this odd stuff I bought yesterday, thinking it would be nice in bread: Cebada Especial Preparada?
According to package directions, to make 10 liters of the drink, you dissolve 1 bag of the stuff in 7 liters of water, add 1 kilo of sugar, a can of evaporated milk, and enough ice to make 10 liters. Who drinks 10 liters of the stuff? Large families?
It's pleasantly flavored with cinnamon and vanilla.
The manufacturer is La India Verdeña, located in Concordia, Sinaloa, with corporate hq in Mazatlán.
Here's a website for them. http://laindiaverdena.com.mx

Buen provecho,

Can't help you with your question Mike, but I think a shot or two of rum would make it even better. You might drink the whole 10 ltrs yourself.
Getting older and still not down here.

It's barley, and it's often served in restaurants as an agua fresca, exactly as described on the package. It's delicious, and I'm sure 10 liters is just about the right amount for a day.

Thanks, Esperanza. Somehow, I had a feeling you'd be the first to reply. :-)

I may try it soon, when I get some ice, when I get enough guests to try it.
I'm thinking it might be too sweet for our tastes.

¡Provecho!

(Sorry. Ron was the first to reply. How did I miss that?)

I do like cebada, but have never mixed it at home. Why not use just a portion of the package and try it? The rest will keep in a covered container. I don't think the cebada I have had in Mazatlán had milk in it, just water, but I may be wrong. You can reduce the amount of sugar to suit your taste. I think it has a slightly chocolately taste, but whatever it is I like it.
