Blueberries?

One of our popular breakfasts while trying to keep our weight and memory in check is by eating blueberries. Personally I feel it’s just hype but nonetheless, it’s vanilla yogurt, cottage cheese, blueberries and chopped walnuts with a tad of synthetic sweetener all mixed and served chilled.

It is delicious, a nice filler and as far as the memory/blueberry benefit, who knows? As far as calorie maintenance goes, it works and if blueberries can at least help me remember what I had for breakfast, bring it on. I seriously doubt blueberry’s is the ticket. What have you heard?

The problem was and is trying to find blueberries in Mexico, frozen or otherwise?

I saw them frozen at Costco in Morelia just a few minutes ago. From time to time, they're available fresh at Walmart and Superama.

We searched and struck out in Guad, San Luis Potosi and Aguasclientes. The only thing we know about Morelia is what a rock musician commented at a club called Mama Mia, in San Miguel Allende. While on break from his session, he commented to us with a burst of enthusiasm such as cupping his fingers to his mouth with a kiss and a flair into the air and said, Morelia es hermosa!! ¡En esta república entera, Morelia es mi favorito!

This group leader was very popular, had some miles on him and probably had rocked in every gin joint in the republic. His music was HOT and great to dance too. He was very popular amongst the crowd. I digress ……. Perdóneme.

Odd merchandise varies by city. I don't think Morelia's Costco and Superama had blueberries on the shelves becaues of any special affection for them by Morelianos. Some of the merchandise just comes in for no apparent reason. Costco has had dried blueberries for some time, but most of them ended up on the discount rack at Costco's salvage store, because no one wanted them.

For the past year, Costco here has carried frozen edamame. Now that I've started buying it, they'll probably discontinue it.

On another note, the other day at Superama the manager asked me if I'd found everything I was looking for. I just had to comment that I sure wished they had fresh cranberries, and he volunteered to order them. I told him that the season had passed, but I would definitely remind him around next September. And that I'd guarantee he'd sell all of them. You might try talking to the store manager in your location.

As you also mentioned, I too from time to time make requests of Costco management and order certain items. For example, they shelve in their freezer section a seafood delight called Salmon Burgers. They are lightly seasoned Salmon patties resembling hamburgers but much more nutritious and really tasty.

When they run out periodically I’m right on them requesting reorders. They’re delicious with a salad or like a protein burger if you do without the bun and just the lettuce wrap and any other burger ingredients.

My daughter vehemently is against seafood because of taste, so one day after my routine Salmon Burger purchase and on a visit to her house, I took her a half dozen wrapped in a clear baggy and she thought they were hamburgers patties.

A week or so later she calls and mentions that those hamburgers were absolutely delicious and asked where we bought them. Till this day she has no qualms about Salmon Burgers but persists a dislike for seafood. Go figure.

We also brought home some dried blueberries from Costco the other day and they’re going right back. They’re Yucky! We also mix for breakfast frozen blueberries with vanilla protein powder, ice water, cracked ice and a smidge of sweetener in a smoothie machine which produces a tall delicious smoothie that tastes just like a blueberry malt but hey, allot more nutritious.
