I have posted an article, with a few photos, about tamales from Tamalli, a small Mexico City chain of specialty tamal shops. You can read it on http://www.mexkitchen.blogspot.com/

Geez, make me humgry, what don't you? Here I am in the wilds of Ajijic, and I haven't had a great tamale since I got here! Do you suppose they would open a branch?

Mmmmm made me hungry too. Thanks for posting that about my favorite food group. I've only made it to Tulum once to hit my fav tamale stand, but I brought back enough for 2 dinners. I've finally discovered something that a microwave is good for, reheating tamales. I had the torneados with chicken and Mimi gets the chaya with boiled egg. I may have to make another run to Tulum.
