:I see around Joco what appear to be yard sales and they are referred to as "bazar" ... but I think that is really appropriately used for a place that sells used items. I have Ecuadorean friends who use the American terms "garage ... pronounced "garaje" when they refer to such sales. But they are now in the USA using that term.

DEFINITELY a pochismo! I used to hear it all the time in San Diego, but say it anywhere in the interior and you get a blank look.

a yarda is three feet in measure, or maybe one of those damn "yard of beer" things, but not a patio or jardin.
Pochismos are a gas though, my favorite is "birria" for "beer".
Another one going around for awhile was "jurrasic park"--pronounced "your ass is parked"<p>
