help with a dicho in Spanish

Can't Post | Private Reply
I recently heard someone use a "dicho" when playfully grabbing an item away from a friend. It sounded like "matango dijo el chango".
I asked a Mexican friend, he chuckled and said he knew the saying, but said it wasn't "matango" but couldn't think of the right word. Any help out there? Thanks.

The dicho is "matanga dijo la changa"

My boyfriend says that matanga isn't even a word, but it roughly translates to 'the (lady) monkey just snatched something from you'. It is used by kids, usually.

Thanks! I realized after I posted, I meant changa, not chango.
I appreciate the info.

El chango or la changa: just the difference between a male and female monkey.

And since "matanga" doesn't really mean anything, I guess "matango" is just as good
