enyesar - enjarar

Was looking for enjarar (stuccoing) on Google and never found it. Closet I found was enyesar which I understand and must be the same. Anyone have a correct spelling for enjarar

My dictionary says estucar and enyesar = to stucco. Enjarar is not listed.

Enjarrar (note the double r) is used mostly in Mexico and not so much in other Spanish speaking countries. I could be wrong but I believe it comes from the Spanish word Jaharrar .

Jaharrar (according to the RAE) means:

Cubrir con una capa de yeso o mortero el paramento de una fábrica de albañilería.

Casa, you're undoubtedly right. The transformation is easier to understand when you realize that in México most Spanish words where the always silent "h" is used as divider between two of the same vowels gets shortened, e.g., basil – albahaca – becomes first alba'aca and finally albaca. Similarly, jaharrar probably became ja'arrar then jarrar (which is in the DRAE as a colloquialism).

Why the en got tacked on the front is anyone's guess, as that base word (jaharrar) means to stucco in Spain, so it is redundant.

Not to be confused with jarrear. Edit - Wow, I posted this not knowing that is actually a DRAE meaning!!. I have never heard it used as such - in Mexico more like going for beers!!
