differnet meanings for idiom "echen aguas!"?

Can't Post |
Be advised that this is a scene from a telenovela, which may be distasteful to some. It involves an abusive situation in prison, in which occured an idiom that I'm asking about:

I was watching an old episode of Apuesta por un amor (I'm behind in watching it) and the evil son who is in jail for suspected murder is about to be asaulted by the jail's pervert guy who one has to knuckle under to in order to get under his protection. The pervert throws him into a cot and says to his surrounding group of thugs, "¡Echen aguás!" Just then, the guards come in and save the newbie they have targeted for abuse.
I see that the phrase "échame agua" means give/pour me some water. But, I don't think it relates to the scene here, unless the guy means he is going to work up a sweat abusing this guy so they better get him some refreshment for when it's over. Anyone got an idea if this is what he means, or if there is another meaning that escapes me?

In Mazatlan, they use agua for everything. When I'm surfing and a few of us are trying to catch a wave, the first guy on the wave always wants to warn the others that he has the wave and to get out of the way. Sometimes they'll say "Agua, Agua, Agua!" Meaning, here I come, watch out I'm on the wave...etc. I would gess the phrase means "Here it comes big guy!" or "Watch out, I'm ready for action!".

After thinking about what you said, I remembered a Mex slang guide I have and found this:

¡Aguas! is a warning shout, like "Look out!"....etc

Although it doesn't include the 'echen' part, I think you're on to something, especially because I had noticed how the original phrase "echen aguas" used the plural "aguas" and so does the definition from the slang book, which would seem to indicate it coming from the same meaning.

Thanks for the input! :)

¡Échenme aguas! ¡Avísenme! Let me know if someone is coming. Alert me.

¡Aguas! ¡Cuidado! Look out! Watch out! Someone is coming.

Cordiales saludos,

Quevedo

Ah, it's amazing how this keeps taking another turn! I see, so he's saying to his thugs to be the lookout for him while he's up to no good. Thanks :)
