One of the kids brought home a paper on 'derechos de los niños' and when I asked about it ... Oh, like derecha? ... they didn't get the connection (made sence to me).

So there is derechos, derecha and derecho ... what am I missing

So we're back to the Mexicans not getting what I'm trying to say .... even tho I'm technically right. It gets frustrating sometimes to live in a house where only Spanish is spoken. At least when I frustrate them I don't worry too much

Sorry, Sparks, it didn't make sense to me. The direction 'right' has nothing to do with the 'rights' of children, as far as I understand.
