Ah, Mexico. You use words in different ways than anywhere else. I have noticed for some time the use of the word "siempre" where it does not mean "always." Clarification? Esperanza? Quevedo? Anybody?

I hit the send key before I finished. I am not referreing to "siempre que" or "siempre por" or "por siempre jamas" but something else that I don't quite get.

My dictionary says that siempre can mean "Certainly", or "in any case".

Siempre is often used colloquially in the sense of "still".

Examples:

El Sr. Fulano siempre tiene vida? Is Mr. So-and-So still alive?

Su mamá siempre le busca novia a su hijo mayor. His mother is still looking for a girlfriend for her older son.

Quedan blanquillos siempre? Literally, "Do eggs still remain?" Liberally, "Do you still have eggs in stock?"

Thanks, Esperanza. That was kind of how I understood it. Just the use of the word "siempre" in that construction was peculiar to my Castillian ear. That clarifies it perfectly.

Siempre is a favorite and can take on deep meanings, such as:

A warm holding embrace and say, Por siempre mi vida.

Or again, A warm holding embrace and just say, siempre aquí.

Or just take ones hand and look in their eyes and say, siempre.

Siempre has long been one of my favorite Spanish words.

For all the reasons discussed previously. And perhaps:
a more personal 'take' on the word.
No matter, what the circumstances(endlessly variable)...always.
To the best of my ability/power/intent...I will 'be there'.

Or at least: doing the best I can.
