Que Significa....

      Greetings,

Can someone tell what "tumbao" means, as in the Celia Cruz song "La Chica Negra Tiene Tumbao". I also heard this recently on El Gordo y La Flaca when an attractive young lady was on the show.

I have checked several dictionaries but can't find it.

Thank you - Jon

Tumbado, "tumba'o", del verbo tumbar, to knock down, knock over, fall down. Esta expresión se usa en Cuba para denotar que una persona tiene ritmo, movimiento, fuerza.

Un saludo tumba'o,

Thank you. You know last night I was watching the Premio Lo Nuestro show with all the great musical performances and I heard a lady come excitedly to the podium and exhort the crowd by asking the if they felt the room had tumba'o, so your response makes perfect sense. Also appreciate you mentioning the Cuba usage as that explains the Celia Cruz connection.
