Hello all, Husker asked: >>>el diario es periodico, no? donde, cual ciudad? ( yo say no accento ) Don't forget the initial question mark in questions. ¿El diario es periódico, no? And this question is an oxymoron since diario means daily and periódico means by period (time), periodically. Yes, the magazine (revista) Consentido is a monthly published in Mexico City. It is Reader's Digest size and many people think it is comparable to Selecciones del Reader's Digest but not so. It is completely Mexican in articles, thought, and deed, while Selecciones is a translation of RD articles to Spanish. Here in Jerez Consentido appears monthly about the 17th or 18th of the month for the following month's issue. As for echar its basic meaning is to throw. Others are: to expel, to pull, to draw, to sprout. etc. And when used with another verb with an a, it means to start; ex: echar a poner, to put, etc. echó a volar, he started to fly (he flew is a good translation). If you don't yet have a good Spanish English dictionary, get one. In my dictionary the verbs echar and echarse in their different variations take up a full 7"x10-1/2"page. As for not being able to put accents: If you are using Windows of any vintage after 3.1 change your keyboard to the International Keyboard. That will be easiest and will not cause any problems with normal typing in English. If you don't want to do that then go to your character library and write down all the accented vowel marks using alt + a number, lock your number keypad and when you want an accented vowel such as ¿ á é í ó ú ü Á etc just do the necessary key strokes. A third method which I do not recommend unless you are adept at a Spanish keyboard is to change that keyboard to Spanish. While you may not think it necessary to write with accents, those accents tell you how to pronounce any strange word you encounter. Keep up with the questions and practice. The only way to learn. Adiós. jerezano.
