He escuchado gente decir, se le fue la onda.

Onda, means wave. Is this something colloquial? Can you please explain its meaning and implications? ¡Gracias!

It never fails to amaze me how things are just taken for granted. I’ve been a major league baseball season ticket holder for a number of years now and the wave is so commonplace, it’s a no brainier.

All I know is it’s a lot of fun, it gives a great opportunity to get up and throw the arms in the air and release a loud cheer in unison with stadium enthusiasm. I love it!

Moreover, it’s true; it only takes about 30 spectators to get the wave moving. Also true is it normally travels clockwise more often the counterclockwise.

Now does onda mean wave in Spanish or does it mean depth or something else?

Onda=wave

Hondo(a)=deep

Se me fue la onda is a colloquialism for "I lost my 'wave' of thought." In English, you might say, "I lost my train of thought."

It’s colloquially reminiscent of an abbreviated statement such as: I was thinking about you but something came up and (I lost it.)

It's also used colloquially as ¿Que Onda? which means something like "what's happening?" or "how is it going?" Also as mal onda or buen onda meaning bad or good vibes.

Yes, I’ve heard this said in this way as well. Not quite sure at the time what it implied. I usually heard it from the younger set and in DF. Thanks for the info.

The wanderlust has hit us again and we’re off in the morning to Seattle than onto Vancouver for about 3 weeks. It’s the Fourth of July weekend and things are pretty well booked. We’re lucky we got accommodations until after the fourth where I’m sure things will get easier.
