Ni Modo

I had lunch with a group of friends today, one of whom was from Argentina. I asked her if she was familar with the term "Ni Modo" as I see it used so often on this forum.

She wasn't... and asked me for the context. I tried to explain as best I know, and she had never heard of the term, nor the context.

any chance one of you could give me a literal a translation of the phrase I think I understand the context.

Thanks,

Pat

Try any one of these with your Argentinian: Qué se le va a hacer, or Ni hablar, or Ni remedio.

Saludos cordiales,

Ni modo, literally, would be "No way". However, as we know, literal translations rarely work. I would translate it as "That's just the way it is".

thanks,

I emailed the translation to my to my Argentinian friend, and she was not familiar with it. Must be peculiar to Mexico.
