Buenas tardes todos y todas!
In English mothers sometimes tell children to mind their 'p's and 'q's.
In Spanish, do mothers tell children to mind their 'o's and 'a's?
Case in point: A few days ago on this discussion forum, David from Monterrey was helpfully correcting my Spanish. To something that he said, I looked an expression up in my dictionary and answered,
: ¡Claro! y un caballero no gusta una mujer en llanta:)
Which he translated as: [a un caballero, no le gustaría una mujer "with a spare tire???"]
Oops! Spare tire can be translated in a number of ways:) BUt what I meant to write was 'en llanto' meaning 'in tears'.
So take care amigos.... to mind your 'o's and 'a's!
ANd maybe... I need reading glasses!!! Wendy

:
