And I am sure you can!! :)

I have been reading this "Learning Spanish" forum for a long, long time now and I would like to say thanks to everyone who has posted either a question or an answer or in any sense helped this forum grow richer in information. I have really learnt a lot only by reading this forum. However, I still have millions of questions and I am sure you are the best to ask. I hope you can help me...

So, my first question is in connection with cards. In Hungary we have two basic types of cards to play with. One of them is Anglo-American playing cards that include spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. People play poker using these cards and you can see them in the "Games" section of your computer too.
The other type is called Central European, the colours of which are called heart, bell, leaves and acorns. We call them "Hungarian cards" but I guess they have another name in Spanish. Could you tell me how they are called?
(Here is a picture of them too.)

Do you call the set of French cards "baraja francesa"?

Muchas gracias,
Lilla

I have never seen the card set you call Central European. The set you see here we call Baraja española; it is widely used in Mexico and includes oros, espadas, copas, and bastos.

To play poker we use baraja francesa, which includes picas, also called espadas or corazones negros; diamantes, corazones and tréboles:

Saludos y buena suerte,

Muchas gracias por su respuesta!

No wonder I didn't find its meaning neither in the Spanish-Hungarian nor in the Hungarian-Spanish dictionary...
Your answer helped me really a lot. Thanks again
