Como va?

I was discussing with a Mexicana the standard greetings, and she said that she always uses "Como esta?", rather than "Como va?". She said that she might use "Como va" in a more specific situation, perhaps in "Como va su projecto?".

Amusingly, "Comment ca va?" is the French translation of "Como va".

I have thought that Como va? was an informal equivalent of "Como esta?", translated as more or less "How is it going?".

What do you guys think?

I've never heard "Cómo va?" What I do hear is "Cómo le va?" or Cómo te va?"

Mind you, I haven't been everywhere or heard everything.

Hola:

¿Cómo va? Like others, that I have never heard. ¿Cómo (le) (te) va? is quite common as a greeting. Literally "How goes it with you?"

But ¿Cómo ve? or ¿Cómo ves? is quite common here in Zacatecas. Literally "How do you see it? The phrase is not used very often as a greeting, but often enough that perhaps it could be heard and understood as ¿Cómo va?

¿Cómo ve (ves)? is one of those space-filling interjection phrases like "you know" in English. It is used often enough to be annoying to the listener, just as "you know" can be annoying.

Adiós. jerezano

Ditto - I've never heard "¿Como Va?" from my Mexican friends in San Miguel de Allende. "¿Como le va?" and "¿Como te va?" is common. Much more common among good friends is "¿Que onda?" and "¿Qua tal?"

And I often hear (and use) "¿Que pasó?" but I never hear "¿Que pasa?"
