Banking Terminology

I never actually go into my bank in person because I can never find a parking space. Never have any problems so I never really need to.

I used to access my account on-line. I would enter my account number followed by my contrasena (my 4-digit PIN) and that put me right in. Yesterday I tried this without success. My bank has a newly designed home page with a blurb about increased security for its customers. Now it asks for my account number followed by my NIB. I tried to use my PIN and that didn't work.

What the heck does "NIB" stand for?? What info are they requesting?? Is there something obvious here that I am missing??

NIB--número de identificación bancaria. When I log into my online bank account, I have to enter a 12-digit number that I got when I opened the account. It was a pain in the neck to memorize, and it's separate from the account number, so I'm guessing it's something like that they want.

Greeting. Yes the NIB, is the unique number of each bank, I think it is used as an extra security, in case some body is trying to use and stolen card. Gerry Zaragemca
