Hola a todos:

Here is an amusing and interesting article from the "Sol de Zacatecas" August 9, 2008 (page 6c) for us students of Spanish to translate. Even new students should be able to get the context of this article but let's see what you can come up with:

Un granjero de la región ucraniana de Jarkov ha sido condecorado con el título de héroe de Ucrania por aumetar la producción de leche de sus vacas, según el decreto publicado por el servicio de prensa de Presidencia.

El nuevo héroe nacional, Iván Guli se hizo famoso hace cuatro años cuando comenzó a poner música a las vacas de su granja, en la aldea de Kobsevka.

Las vacas escuchan las melodías durante todo el día, gracias a lo cual amuenta su producción de leche diaria una media de tres litros por animal, informó la agencia Itar-Tass.

El reportorio fue estudiado durante mucho tiempo, se experimentó con géneros desde el clásico hasta el popular, e incluso sonaron canciones de la "drag queen" ucraniana Verka Serduchka, pero parece ser que las vacas prefieren Beethoven y Mozart.

La experiencia del condecorado granjero ha sido adoptada por muchos otros ganaderos del país.<<

A farmer from the Jarkov region of the Ukraine has been granted the title of Ukrainian national hero for increasing his cows' milk production, according to a statement released by the president's press service.

The new national hero, Iván Guli, became famous four years ago when he began to play music to the cows on his farm in the town of Kobsevka.

The cows listened to tunes throughout the day, and as a result their milk production increased by an average of about three liters per animal per day, according to the Itar-Tass news agency.

The cows were exposed to a wide range of musical genres from classical to popular, and even listened to songs by Ukrainian drag queen Verka Serduchka, but it appears that they prefer Beethoven and Mozart.

Many other Ukrainian farmers have adopted Guli's heroic practice.

Hello all,

Sergio Gómez, whom I have never seen on this forum before, gets four stars **** for his tranlsation of the New Hero of the Ukraine Republic. As a native English Speaker I found absolutely no errors. Perhaps Sr. Quevedo as a native Spanish Speaker would have a slightly different translation.
