Seeking long-term Ajijic area rental

Can't Post | Private Reply
(I'm editing this post from a few days ago because we've satisfied our short-term needs.)

Hello,

We arrived in Ajijic on the 17th of September and are currently staying in a short-term rental. We are two adult males, with a medium sized, very well-behaved, completely house-trained and quiet dog. (References available.) We are planning to live in the area for the next year or so. The rental we're seeking:

LONG TERM: We need an UNfurnished rental, with a minimum of two bedrroms, two bathrooms and at least a small yard/garden. We also need an additional room (either third bedroom or den) for use as an office. We would be looking to rent it for at least six months, more likely a year.

(We realize unfurnished places are less common, and would consider a furnished place for the semi-long term. Our household items are currently in Texas, and we could ship them down and store them locally. We would prefer, however, to have access to our "stuff" that we haven't seen in six months. But we're flexibile.)

If anyone has any leads, please contact me.

Thanks.

Well, if you're not wedded to Ajijic, I've noticed a number of houses for rent in Jocotepec. You just need to walk around and look for the signs.

Well, your LONG TERM need will be the easiest. Yes, more places are available furnished than not but there are unfurnished places available, especially since you are going to stay for more than 'just the winter'.

The SHORT TERM need would be easy IF it were not for the "medium sized, very well-behaved, completely house-trained and quiet dog. (References available or NO!)". What you have described could otherwise be filled by a B&B or other weekly-stay place. I am not personally aware (doesn't mean it doesn't exist!) of any such place that would welcome your pet. Maybe Villas del Sol Condos, next to the Waffle House, would but I think you would have to commit to a month. See http://www.chapala.com/chapala/condos.html

Also below is a website that you can use as a source to contact places before or once you get there. Continental Realty may have the most rentals but try them all.

http://www.pagescribe.com/realtor_lodging/realtors,lodging.html

In addition to Realtors, there are several places around town where there are 'boards' that have places to stay posted. Since you are coming well prior to the high season you should have NO problem finding at least your LONG TERM rental. One such board is outside the SuperLake grocery store in San Antonio (just follow all the gringos to find the place!). Another can be found inside the Lake Chapala Society grounds. Both should have many places listed 'by owner'.

Good luck.

HI,

I did get your note, and just replied a few minutes ago. Let me know if you didn't get it. For some reason I'm not getting e-mail alerts from MexConnect any more. I need to go poke through the help folder. Thanks.
