Can anyone give me information about the jaboticabo plant? I bought one from Flora Exotica after seeing one in Jocotepec. The fruit is borne on the trunk and not on the branches. I understand the fruit is edible. Is that true?

We had one in our back yard when I was a child in Brasil. I remember not liking the fruit too much, but it made a wonderful jelly.
