Rewiring

We are building a house in Ajijic. The living room has a domed ceiling that is heart shaped - low on either side and in the middle - sort of like a rounded M. Wiring for a ceiling fan has been installed in the ceiling. It is not were we want it and the ceiling is completed. How difficult would it be to move the wiring?

You didn't tell us what the ceiling is.

If it is exposed brick, re-wiring is going to be a real problem.

If it is plaster over brick, you can move the fan/light by making a channel in the plaster and bricks from the old location to the new. Then you can patch the plaster and repaint and hope it doesn't show in the future. It will not be easy.

The other alternative for either ceiling configuration is to run a new line in conduit on the roof and punch through to the new location -- and hope you can get a good, leakproof seal.
