: looking for quality brick for possible export into US<p>Some of the best quality brick in the Guadalajara area is made by several small yards in San Antonio. This small village is located about midway between Chapala and Ajijic. Limiting factors: since they are initially sun-dried before firing, brick-making shuts down during the "rainy season", roughly between May and early October. Transportation would add significantly to cost: nearest port is Manzanillo, about 3-4 hours via highway, shortest route to USA (Laredo, TX), about 800 miles. Depending on your needs, it may be necessary to try to source more than one of the yards. If you are interested, send me an E-mail and I can put you in touch with a local contractor who knows all of the local brick-makers well. (He does not have internet access).
