Another building project

This is an old story that has only a little to do with Mexico. It's about the house and yard that my buddy Enrique and I built in Tarzana (Los Angeles) in the 1990’s. It was the precursor to my move to Mexico and my building projects down here. Hope you enjoy it.

Rolly, I'd like to suggest that you do a piece on Living, Retire, etc in Mexico forum about the USA side of your relationship with Enrique and his family.

Your move to and present life in Mexico is on a rock solid foundation that many, many folks could learn from. There are so many people dreaming of moving to Mexico that have what appear to be colonial ideas about Shangri-la.

The truth is that Mexico is in the USA. Anyone in the USA that wants to can now can now learn Spanish from Mexican native speakers, eat real Mexican food with authentic ingredients, learn more about Mexican culture then they could in San Miguel de Allende, hang around with Mexicans regularly, meet with a curandera healer, buy Mexican CD's and rent Mexican movies, watch Mexican TV shows constantly, be a padrino, dance to the beat of a banda, and generally have fun right in Postville, Iowa - population 4000. The second truth is that one can live around Mexicans and Mexican culture in Postville, Iowa much cheaper than they probably can in Mexico.
