which way is best from mazatlan

Okay after traveling the mountians between Durango and Mazatlan I am pretty sure I am not going back the same way. I don't leave until Sunday so I have a little time to think about it. I and really considering going through AZ. but I am not too sure. I have heard that going that way will take 18 hours is this true. I made it from Laredo to Mazatlan driving straight through lin about 20 hours (3:30am to 10:30 pm) I must say I got lost in every town that the town after the toll road ended expect for the first. Please supply a little advice for me. I need some help to ease my mind so I can start enjoying mexico.
Thanks in advance
Janet

one more little thing I am traveling from Mazatlan to Maryland. And there are only 2 of us driving. On the way I drove 46 of the 50 hours straight, with only about 3 hours sleep and lots of coffee and diet coke.
Janet

Why not head north on Mex 15-D and use the toll roads and relax a little?
It's a long drive no matter which way you go and once you hit I-8 in AZ you'll be in northern Texas before you know it.
Leave early in the morning and you can make Guaymas in daylight this time of year. A little north of town (don't use the periferico for this) is the Motel Flamingos on the right. A good place to overnight with A/C. Decent restaurant. You'll make the border in three hours. There's a convenient drive-thru place to return your car permit.
In Tucson just a little WEST of the I-19 and I-8 look to your left) interchange is the DISCOVERY INN. Also a good place to hole-up for the night.

Saludos!

It's 745 miles to Nogales and the toll total is something like fifty dollars and change. This is too far for me to drive in one stint but I have read on this site where others have done it. I can go from Mazatlan to Guaymas, easy in about eight and a half hours.

And the road is flat and almost straight as an arrow. A figure of speech but it's close.

Saludos!
David

So Janet where are you now? Don't drive for days without rest/sleep. Mucho dangerous!!! Where in Maryland? I live near Laurel and will be doing the Mexico trip in early winter but to the Lake Chapala area. Let us all know how it went. Good luck and stay safe.
: Okay after traveling the mountians between Durango and Mazatlan I am pretty sure I am not going back the same way.
