I driving down to a time share in veracruz at the continental plaza in July. I plan on travelling on down to the Yucatan in the fall. I see two routes, one closer to the coast and one through CD Victoria. Is one better than the other, scenic, smooth etc.? I am ordering a churches book thanks to a reply from one of your members.

The road through Victoria is in better condition (smoother), however the other route is the one that the buses use (shorter). In my opinion, Tamaulipas is not scenic.

I agree, Tamaulipus is a pretty boring drive. I do the by pass through Soto de Marina and seems to cut the time by an hour or more. It is a bit narrower than the Cuidad Victoria road but in good condition.
