Hola, I had posted a question around mid July about travel from Texas to Jalisco and wanted to let all those who are interested and thank those who posted replies that we had a good trip. The worst part was the rain when descending the mountains out of San Luis Potosi. We crossed at Nuevo Laredo and traveled around Monterrey on the cuota. The only evidence of the flood that we saw/experienced was the relocation of the immigration/vehicle permit office but we found it with no problems. Unkown to us there was a pretty big battle in Nuevo Laredo the night before we arrived. We spent the night in Laredo and crossed on July 22 at approx. 8 am. We took snacks and an ice chest with drinks and stayed on the road only stopping twice for gasoline. I must admit we were a little nervous because of all the narco wars. For anyone who doesn't know there is an informative web site www.borderlandbeat.com that has updates on all the war in Mexico. But I will warn you sometimes ingnorance is bliss. (at least for me) Sometimes we can get too much information. We live near the Del Rio/Acuna crossing but was unable to cross there or Piedras Negras because the flood had bridges washed out. I don't know if they have repaired these bridges or not. The government was complaining that they didn't have enough money to rebuild the bridges before the water had even receded. So if you are thinking of going through these crossing I would recommend checking the condition of the roads. I hope this makes sense to all of you and can be of some help. What a great community of people. Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart. mary
