¡HOLA! I'm glad to be able to advise you. I live in Puerto Penasco and have been on the new hiway 3 times so far. There is a stretch between San Luis and El Golfo that is very hard to drive still, as it is still the old agricultural road, complete with pot-holes, HUGE tractors driving 2 miles per hour and all other sorts of road hazards. There is also a stretch of dirt surface in the middle and a military check-point. Finding your way through San Luis is not easy either, as there are NO directional signs. The road from El Golfo to Penasco is very nice and so far, not heavily traveled. The one thing there is that sometimes sand forms drifts across one lane or the other, causing one to either swerve into the other lane, or in case of on-coming traffic, plow through, risking varying degrees of fish-tailing. For us here, it's a boon for reaching Mexicali, but for you 2 ole' gringas, I think you'd have a tough time of it in those problem areas and that would make it not worth it, especially with a trailer. That's about it I guess. You can explore the new hiway at your leisure later. It really is quite beautiful. Colibri1
