mexicali crossing

Any recent info on coming through california through the mexacali crossing? I checked out threads but didn't see anything more recent than 2008. We are going down the coast of Sonora, Sinolia and it seems that nogales is way to far. Thanks for the input.

There is now a travel advisory for Hwy 15--see the thread re: the murder of
a Phoenix man this week. They apparently wanted his new Dodge truck.

Crossing at Mexicali is not as good as the crossing at San Luis Rio Colorado. The office for permits is to the right just as you cross. Í-10 to Yuma and then south. From Mexicali to San Luis I don´t recall any services on Hiway 2. Crossing through the city of Mexicali is not real simple. Just keep on Mex Highway 2 until you reach Mex 15. and head south. All good roads. Two lane. Minimum traffic and likewise with services. Avoid driving at night. Take plenty of water. My last trip this way was three years ago so things may have changed some.

What is it with you azheat? You seem to be reveling in all kinds of bad news for our area. First it's .....oh, now going to Rocky Point will be a thing of the past, (which was an admitted lie by the U. S. consulate)....now an isolated incident turns into blood alley...??? We live here EVERY DAY, travel freely and safely on the 8 and the 15. I'm now in favor of cotton candy, but tar is even more distasteful.

Blood alley?

Your words, not mine.

"What is with me" is that we travel the interior of
Mexico on a regular basis and want to know what's happening at the border, as do many others.

If you'd rather not know that is certainly your prerogative.
And there are plenty of forums that forbid open conversations--fortunately this isn't one of them.

We travel the interior as well. We do want to know what is going on. I feel that your posts have shown a inflammatory tendency. IMHO

Please show us what Rick S, a very level headed poster, has ever posted that is inflammatory. I think Colibri, that your business in Rocky Point/Puerto Peñasco is suffering because of a lack of tourism, and I think we can all feel for you - but you are not alone. I know that is not much consolation but your posts have a very self serving edge - please notch it back a little.
Others reading this board need to know what is going on in Mexico.

Sorry, I should have posted my last answer after azheat.
Just because I have a business interest in Mexico, does not mean that I'm hiding from the truth. I go to Michoacan several times a year. I will be a naturalized citizen very soon. And yes, I get pissed off when people LIE about what has happened (or NOT HAPPENED) and I am not alone. I cam allowed have an opinion too. I do not feel that I have said anything wrong or hurtful. On the contrary, I'm trying to put these things in perspective.
PEACE

Yes, the truth is bad enough...no need to make anything up.
In the comments, the one who calls him/herself scared, I suspect is making it up. They really go off the deep end after that.
The first few commenters are are people we know.
