http://www.zonaturistica.com/hoteles-mexico.php#lsug We have stayed at El Socavon 3 times. It was fine back then ('90s) but now, it's a good walk from Centro, and the hotel has lots of stairs. No elevator.) We have also stayed at El Molino de Rey, but didn't like the room, as it smelled musty and the bathroom was awkward to get into. Stayed at Hostería Del Frayle, and got a reduced rate by asking in person, not booking on the Internet. Room was fine except it overlooked the Recepcíon, where the desk clerk played a loud radio. However, he turned it down at our request. Last year, we stayed at the small, charming Hospedería de Truco 7. However, the room was smaller than anticipated, the breakfast served at the associated Restarante Truco 7 (3 -4 blocks away) was just adequate. The Hospedería staff was very kind and helpful, though. There was construction/renovation going on outside or room from 8-5. I almost forgot to mention that just under our "balcony", where there was really no room to stand, was one of the stops for the nightly callejoneadas. Some may find it romantic to have student troubadours singing and playing under their window, but it disturbed our rest. The location is very good, however, as long as you don't mind climbing the steps everytime you return to your lodgings. Of those hotels where we've stayed, I'd choose El Frayle, price aside. If you haven't read the reviews on TripAdvisor.com, I suggest you take a look. Finding B&B for $77 USD or less is a bit of a tough one. Personally, I'm more inclined to pass up the second "B" and just go out for breakfast. That seems a better value overall, and the choices are several. Saludos, Anonimo By the way, Willie; when is your visit to GTO? not during el Cervantino, surely?
