guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta- driving

hey there.
looking to drive from guadalarara to puerto vallarta next week, and wondering if anyone knows the best route.
is it safe? senic? toll roads?
should i expect about 4 hours or so?
and is there any website that offers point A to point B driving directions in mexico like mapquest does in the US?thanks!LE

Take the toll road (head towards Tequila) until a little past Tepic. You will intersect with HyWay 200 (coast hyway). From there it is libre and and two lanes to PV (except for the last few miles). Lots of small towns along the way to stop. I'd say more like 5+ hours.
