entry documents

I've heard that now the only acceptable form of ID when entering Mexico is a passport. Is this correct or are other documents accepted? Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance

You should have a passport if you plan to visit Mexico. Specific entry requirements would depend on the country that issued your passport and what kind of passport you have. In many cases a visa is required.

For example:

Visitors from Canada traveling on an “ordinary” blue passport do not require a visa to visit Mexico for Tourism for a stay up to 180 days.

Visitors from Canada traveling on an “official or special” green passport DO need a visa to visit Mexico for Tourism for a stay up to 180 days.

Visitors from Canada traveling on a “diplomatic” maroon passport DO need a visa to visit Mexico for Tourism for a stay up to 180 days.

Visitors from the US will need a Passport Book or Passport Card to Re entry the US via land or sea and will require a Passport Book for air travel.

You can check to see what you need at the Mexican Immigration website
www.inm.gob.mx or at a Mexican consulate in your country.

Hi Sun Lover,

You did not provide sufficient information for a detailed response. What part of Mexico are you going to? How long do you plan to stay? Children or not (age of children)? Pets? Towing a boat or travel trailer or not? What are you planning to bring with you for your trip? Any electronics? Cameras?

Giving as much information as you can, will bring a much more thorough answer for you. Most of us try to give as much of a clear answer as possible, but really need as much informatin as possible to do that.
Regards,
