alternate places to get paperwork

For over 35 years I have always picked up my paperwork at the border. Someone told me you can get papers done at a travel bureau. I can wait till tomorrow and check it out but just wanted to know, now. Thanks for your help, Norma

Mexican Consulates in the following cities are authorized to issue FMTs and vehicle permits: Albuquerque, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, and St. Paul. There may be others because these things change, so ask at your consulate if you are interested.

Travel agents are not authorized to issue FMTs or vehicle permits. They might have blank FMT forms, but they sure would not have an INM stamp.

Rolly:

I hate to disagree with someone as knowledgeable as yourself BUT in the case of the Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque, they do not issue FMT's. They have always told us that this must be done at the border. They are only too happy to issue vehicle permits!

Isn't wonderful how consistent the consulates are -- NOT.

Discover Baja travel agency in San Diego will give you an FMT filled out, prepaid and ready to be stamped at the border. Trouble is you need to be a member for about $30 a year but that's not too bad if you get insurance thru them as well.

If they can I assume there might be others
