airline visa reimbursement

I have a FM3, and will be flying to Mazatlan on October 18th. My ticket has a charge of $20.13 for a Mexican Visa. Is it possible to get reimbursement for this charge, or do I just eat it? Have not had any luck searching the forum for an answer. Thanks

The subject has been discussed here in the past. Some airlines will give it back if you press hard enough, others seem to be too stone-hearted. Most who have tried it, and reported here, indicate that it may not be worth the effort.

As a retired airline employee who used to direct clients to apply for this refund when qualified, I suggest that you send a copy of your FM3 along with your confirmation/reservation code to the Refund Dept. of the airline that charged you the fee.
You might include a note saying that you should not have been charged this fee since you have your FM3.
Now legally, this fee refund is due to "legal residents" of Mexico.....loosely interrupted, they usually view the FM3 as legal permission to reside in the country and I have never been denied the refund when requesting it for my husband....normally via America West-now US Airways or Alaska Airlines.
I do have an issue with those that only live in the country part time and feel they are entitled to all sorts of refunds/ discounts, etc. but that is another discussion.
This may vary for other carriers. Good luck!

Thank you all for the replies. After several discussions with the airlines, in which they refuse to come up with a way to not charge the fee, their only reply was "we have to pay Mexico, so you need to get it from them". I've come to the conclusion
it is not worth the effort. I guess I'll just stay home one evening.

I got mine once by talking to the ticket counter on return flight. I had a little extra time and the clerk thought it an interesting project. After 20-25 minutes looking thru his computer he agreed .... and my credit card was later credited about $28. Seems there are 3-4 related charges

Believe it was Delta. I wouldn't bother with it again
