Hello prmjcm: Parking of a car in Zacatecas is a problem. However some downtown hotels do offer parking spaces. If you are not coming by car you might wish to try the Hostal Villa Colonial which has been highly recommended by visiting friends in the past: http://www.hostellingmexico.com or http://www.holtelworld.com. E mail is hostalvillacolonial@hotmail.com. Private rooms are available. Budget prices. It is one block from the Cathedral. Also for typical Mexican meals there is the restaurant in the Hotel Conde on Independence square. It is a businessman's type restaurant with a more than adequate menu and very reasonable prices. Very popular with the people who work in shops and offices downtown. Better than average food, clean, and good service. For example: The only place in Zacatecas where it is possible to get a Spanish Omelet. Across the street is the restaurant in the Hotel Condessa which is also good but the food is just not quite up to the other. Prices are also reasonable. Neither hotel offers parking although public parking is available nearby. The Condessa's room are not up to my standard. The Conde's, while small are clean and comfortable. If you are coming with a car the Motel Zacatecas farther from the center but with parking and its own small restaurant is on the main through town boulevard. Reasonable prices at both the Motel and the restaurant. Good food. Not busy. For pricier hotels, the site suggested by Tony Burton should steer you in the right direction. Have a good trip. Be sure and visit the Museum at Guadalupe. jerezano.
