Traveling San Diego to Hermosillo and/or Guaymas

Can't Post |
I plan to drive from San Diego to Guadalajara and am considering spending the night in Hermosillo or Guaymas depending on light and how tired I am.
Any suggestions about lodging in these cities? Looking for clean, quiet and secure facilities and secure parking. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Try the Holiday Inn

I spent a night there a couple of years back, and found it absolutely unlike a standard Holiday Inn. It has a two story, rectangular configuration, surrounding a large grassy courtyard, with pool. The front desk staff was nice, the rooms were well appointed, the restaurant good, the pool beautiful, and they had secure parking. I'd stay there again. But it ain't cheap. Oh, well, you can't have it all, I guess.
: I plan to drive from San Diego to Guadalajara and am considering spending the night in Hermosillo or Guaymas depending on light and how tired I am.

We recently went from Mexicali to Obregon during a night and stayed at the Holiday Inn in Obregon. It was quite nice. Mundane, expectable, but nice. On the way up, we had stayed at the Hotel Colinas in Los Mochis, which was wonderful for kids, if a bit odd for their folks.
Northwest Mexico is riddled with U.S.-standard motels. I sort of liked Hermosillo, at times at least. It can be blindingly, appallingly hot. Guaymas I found sort of depressing -- or at least it was one of the least pleasant Mexican coastal towns I've encountered. I've lived in Mexico 12 years.
: I plan to drive from San Diego to Guadalajara and am considering spending the night in Hermosillo or Guaymas depending on light and how tired I am.

I would not suggest the Holiday Inn in Hermosillo. Old, dirty, $100+ and very disappointing according to all lately who have stayed there. There is a new Mexican hotel on the corner of the main street in Hermosillo when you turn south. Protected parking and low prices. Or drive further south to San Carlos. Hotels are either cheap and simple or expensive but there is little crime.
:

Are there two Holiday Inns in Hermosillo?

The one in which I stayed certainly wouldn't qualify as either old nor dirty, and rates are in the $80 range. See the link below.

: I would not suggest the Holiday Inn in Hermosillo. : My wife and I live in Mazatlan and always do the trip in two stages by staying at the Los Flamingos Motel on the north end of Guamas on the main north/south highway that goes through town. It is pink in color and located across the road from the large Tecate distributorship.
It has a nice pool and a very good restaurant. they also have a nightime security guard patrolling the grounds and your car is out of sight of the road and quite safe. a couple will pay $27.00 US and our dog is accepted too.
