We are all used to the NOB media playing the alarmist role when reporting the potential health problems when traveling Mexico. The article from INFORMADOR provides some alarming statistics regarding the prevalence of various amoebas and other pathogens throughout the Mexican population. With this comes a wide range of opportunity to become infected, not only from food but also through simple things like handling money, picking up objects in stores, putting ones hands on a railing or doorknob, turning on/off a sink faucet and many other everyday activities. http://www.informador.com.mx/...adores-de-amibas.htm Having never been sick from anything Mexico related in over 10 years of traveling tends to make me less cautious but articles such as this one (from the Mexico based press) is kind of a wake up call to pay attention. Packets of disinfectant wipes are easy to carry and could limit ones opportunity to participate. Regards, Neil Albuquerque, NM
