Can anyone tell me (even approximately) the amount of toll charges from Guadalajara to Neuvo Laredo - via San Luis Potosi.I am also posting this to "A/Lake Chapala" Forum.

Try: www.sct.gob.mx/autotransporte/index.htmThis should give you all the toll charges on all the toll roads in Mexico. Good luck!

: Total tolls including the two new ones on the San Luis Potosi bypass are 590 pesos approx.
The SLP bypass is great as it eliminates the bad hill into SLP and takes you completely around the city. See the 2002 Edition of the GUIA ROJI page 18.

:Just one thing: why are the good highways in Mexico so expensive to drive on? It seems strange they´re so much more than US roads which are better.... Can anyone explain this? Thanks

I wish I knew the answer. I have pondered the same question. It seems the inverse of good marketing -- set the price so high that the volume of sales will be low. I have wondered how some stretches, like from Saltillo to Torreón (my home area), generate enough revenue to pay the toll booth operators.I have even made a sick joke that it’s a class issue – the rich have their fine, wide open highway and the trucks and the poor are somewhere else.I guess it’s just another “Welcome to Mexico.”
