Hola Amigos!
Is it possible to show up at the central bus station in Tijuana and take a bus directly to Mexico city? That's my plan so I would appreciate any tips or quickest routes.

Yes (conditional)Elite serves this route. Transportes Norte de Sonora has frequent buses to Guadalajara and a one-half hour layover in Guad. to take a Estrella Blanca (same company) primera to DF.

: GraciasNot a problem.... However, a few words....Try to change $$ to pesos before you get to the Bus Station, which is about 5 miles from the border. Many local buses go there for 50 cents instead of $5-10 (depends on your spanish) that the taxis charge. Be prepared for a through security check on boarding AND DON'T PUT VALUABLES in your check on luggage. One more thing, excessive baggage is really hit hard, so watch your 25 kilo limit.
They will use two drivers - 24hrs a day in less than 40 hours.

Here is a BETTER PLAN! For the SAME $$$ as a 40 hour bus ride, you can find a travel agent on almost every block of the comercial center. The prices on TIJ-MEX Airplane tickets is intense. For almost the same price as the bus ticket you can fly in under 4 hours NOT 40 hours on the bus!
Same advice applies... Bus to airport is cheaper than taxi, just make sure it is going to the airport proper.
I highly recommend this approach.
