Texas to Mazatlan

Can't Post |
I have read several messages on this board regarding travel to Mazatlan. Our planned route is Laredo to Monterey to Durango, over Devil's Backbone into Mazatlan. We are only a couple of hours from Laredo, so I plan to be over the border when the Customs Office opens. We then plan to drive all day until we reach Durango where we will spend the night and save Devil's Backbone for the next day. Here are my questions if anyone can help out...
-Which bridge do I need to cross in Laredo and what time does the Customs office open? Is it easy to find?
-How long of a drive can I expect from the border to Monterey and Monterey to Durango?
-How much in "Cuotas" can I expect to pay on the above legs?
-What are some safe hotels to stay at, with courtyard safety for my vehicle, in Durango?
Any information you can provide on the above or any additional information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Jason
Our last three trips to Mazatlan have been through Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras down to Monclova and then to Torreon and on to Durango and Mazatlan. We are generally the only vehicle at the check point about 20 miles from Piedras Negras. No hassal like in going through Laredo, Monterrey and Saltillo. We travel in an RV, so have no information about hotels.
rick

"Use the downtown bridge Juarez-Lincoln bridge #2, Customs is open 24 hrs, easy to find"
: -How long of a drive can I expect from the border to Monterey and Monterey to Durango?
" Border to Monterrey about 3hrs more or less, Monterrey to Durango 8hrs more or less"
: -How much in "Cuotas" can I expect to pay on the above legs?
"Cuotas, I'll post a link at the bottom, you do the math"
: -What are some safe hotels to stay at, with courtyard safety for my vehicle, in Durango?
"Durango hotels? cant answer this one, never stayed overnight in Durango" Hope some of this helped!! buen viaje
: Any information you can provide on the above or any additional information would be greatly appreciated!
: Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the follow-up! I appreciate the info. I think I have figured out the majority of the trip. The first day will be about 12-14 hours, but the second will be much shorter.
All I need now is some hotel tips for Durango. So far I have only found the chains at about $75 a night...seems a little pricey. If anyone has some info on smaller hotels with safe parking in Durango, please let me know.
Thanks

Two good Durango hotels I've stayed at

I have overnighted in Durango twice, and passed through several other times.
If you want a nice hotel close to major roadways, try the Best Western Los Arcos. To get info on this hotel, use a search engine, including Durango with the hotel name. Several sites can help you with more info, as well as making a reservation.
I also stayed at the San Jorge downtown. If you want an interesting, nice place to stay, consider this one. Included in the price is parking at a guarded lot. They also have a delicious complimentary, full breakfast.
Two options to consider...
