There are lots of different stories about this one including a reply from the government web site saying one cannot register a vehicle in Texas using a mail box address. Mail boxes here in Ajijic say you can, agents for the liability insurance say yes too, one employee of the Webb county tax office in Laredo says yes and another says no. Don't want to drive down there to be refused. Anyone who has done it using a mail box address please help out!!

If you look in some RV magazines, there are several companies that act as mail forwarders for about $150.00 a year. They will help you do the Texas vehicle registration and licensing. You need to get a state vehicle inspection, I think the whole thing costs around $50US. Tis is a practice of thousands of full time RVers.
