This topic has been discussed before and it appears that Volaris is really benefiting from this alliance. However, I ran into an idiosyncrasy with with booking process. Volaris was offering a 20% off special for trips booked during a certain period - something that they seem to do quite frequently. When booking through Southwest, the booking engine doesn't pickup on the coupon whereas if you book separately, you can take advantage. In the case of the ticket that I booked last weekend, by doing it in this manner, it resulted in a savings of $79USD.
