Taking the family (two boys) + little dog (Yorkie) from Sayulita to SM de Allende and GTO.....probably will break up the trip in GDL...so looking for recommendations for a nice hotel in Gudalajara that's not too far off of our path where we can stay for just one night....Thanks in advance!

How are you travelling - car, bus, plane? That would help determine what is off your path. Do you want just conveneience, or prefer any part of town?

If just total convenience along the route, I'd suggest the Hacienda del Sol hotel in Tonala. http://www.hotelhaciendadelsol.com
The hotel has free secure on-site parking and they do allow pets. It is easily accessible from the Periferico.

For a historic downtown area hotel, I like the Hotel Cervantes and the San Francisco Plaza, but don't know their pet policies.
