Shortcut

San Miguel to P.V. in one day.

I just discovered these forums and I apologize if this is a redundant question.Taking the toll roads.... can any one tell me how long it takes to drive from San Miguel to P.V? I would like to do it in one day. It looks like there are two routes and the one that goes slightly north towards Leon and then down through Guadalajara has more toll road. Thank-you for any advice.

You'll not likely make such a trip in one day.
FIRST, never drive at night in Mexico--there is "free range" which means that livestock may roam the roadways at night. Also, if one should break down, there is little likelihood of help. Also, there is always a possibility of robbery.
SECOND, the trip is just too far--just from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta is six hours.
Try scheduling three days. Under the best of conditions, and no pit-stops, you might make it in THIRTEEN hours.
Good luck.
