San Cristobal de las Casas - dog friendly

Can't Post | Private Reply
We are scheduled to visit San Cristobal de las Casas next week and have to bring along our two small dogs. Can anyone suggest a hotel that allows dogs, or a hotel with secure parking where we could leave them overnight in the car? We really want to see this area but traveling with dogs can be challenging.

Go to www.gringodogs.com and click on the "Pet-friendly Accommodations" button on the left side of the page. Then scroll down to San Cristobal. It describes a listing for a wonderful B&B we stayed in two years ago. We parked on the street in front, but had no problem with security. We had planned two weeks, but due to transmission difficulty, we stayed a month--and loved every minute of it.

If you find other dog friendly places to stay that are not listed there, please send them to me. This is a labor of love that I update periodically.

Bless you for that link! (Unfortunately, I just tried to pull up the site, but it didn't load. Will try again later.)

We're going to be tackling a move to Mexico that begins a long trip in a car with a dog....and I was wondering how we'd find any places that would accept the little beast.

I hope that link works. The underlying web site is parked at Comcast: http://home.comcast.net/~gringodog. The pet-friendly Mexico pages is at http://home.comcast.net/...dog/pet-friendly.htm. I recently parted with $20 to buy the domain names "www.gringodogs.com" and "www.gringodog.net," and have them both pointed at the Comcast address. (A commercial speculator had already purchased "www.gringodog.com," darn). You can also find the site by Googling "Gringodog." You'll have to work through the first links that come up to get where you want to go if you Google "Gringodog." Don't click on the result with the URL relating to Travelpods. That's me, also - an incomplete attempt to update my travelogues without fussing with Microsoft Front Page.

I only know how to create a web page using Microsoft Front Page, so the site works best if you use Internet Explorer, even though I'm a Firefox fan myself.

Here is what I have written for San Cristobal de las Casas:

San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas
Casa Na'ima
This was a wonderful, very attractive, place to stay. Owner Bruno Morales, who is half Mexican, half French Canadian, is great! There's a little area for exercising the dogs on the patio. Bruno and his girlfriend live in a little casita, so guests get the run of the house, including the kitchen. Great views. $65 for a double, including breakfast. We stayed four weeks and paid $50 a night, without breakfast. Includes free high speed wired or wireless Internet. Address: Remesal #2, Esquina Gradas Francisco I Madero, Barrio Guadalupe, San Cristobal de Las Casas , Chiapas, Mexico. Tel: 967-678-8630. E-mail: brunomorales@casanaima.com Web page: http://www.casanaima.com
San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas
Hotel Molindo de la Alborado
This hotel lodge responded to our inquiry that our pets were welcome. The price in 2006 was about $42 for a double, with plenty of room for the dogs; the lodging’s location is in the mountains about 10 minutes from San Cristóbal. Periférico Sur Poniente No.74 Barrio de María Auxiliadora, C.P. 29290. Tel. (01967) 678 0935, Fax (01967) 678 3145, e-mail hotel@molinodelaalborada.com.mx Web page: http://www.molinodelaalborada.com.mx/
I also mention Casa Colibri in my listings, although a reader wrote to tell me that they weren't very happy with the area around the house-apparently it overlooks a pig slaughterhouse or something like that.

I haven't updated this web site on Puebla yet, but have one or two new listings. Send me an e-mail if you need those, since Puebla is often a stopping point en route to San Cristobal de las Casas.

On our way to San Cristobal, we stayed south of Veracruz--between Veracruz and Villahermosa--in a crummy little sex motel, but it took the dogs. It was on the lLibre, but I can't recall the name of it. It may have flooded out anyway. If you want a legitimate pet-friendly motel in either of those cities, I suggest you look at www.Orbitz.com or http://hotel-guies.us/ Both have boxes you can check under "amenities" for allowing pets. I'm in the process of updating my page with some listings from these sites. It takes me quite awhile to get it done, however. The latter site volunteers to double check for you on the pet-friendliness if you send them an e-mail. Presumably, they would like to do the booking for you.

Spelling & link mistake on hotel listings. For the Hotel-Guides listings, go to
http://hotel-guides.us/mexico/mx-hotels.html
Then click on a city. Then click on "Find a hotel with features you like" at the top. Scroll down and fill in dates, and then further down and check the box for "Pets Accepted." Then do your search.

Thanks. The link works fine now....but think the original post has been edited by the ever-helpful Rolly. (Thanks!) Earlier today I had typed the url into my browser (safari) and it looked like it would load, but then didn't.

Regardless, I found your site earlier today by using similar sleuthing skills that you just mentioned in the post above.

Very helpful. Thank you!
